A Barbarian in San Silibia: Intro
A Visit to San Silibia is a journaling game by Jimmy Shelter (itch.io), where the player roleplays a visitor chronicling their time in the mysterious fantasy city named San Silibia. San Silibia is described as a city that is not found on any map, both a part of and distinct from our world.
Over several rounds of play, cards are drawn to give prompts for the events that happen in that round, and then the player interprets the propmpts into a journal entry for that day.
The game can be purchased on Itch.io A Visit to San Silibia.
I have a triple purpose in this playthrough; in addition to starting this blog and playing the game for the first time, I am also going to be using it to generate a bit of backstory for my barbarian character, Jon Smithson, that I'll be playing in a D&D 5th Edition game. I'll be deviating from some of the descriptions of San Silibia in the published game, to make it fit within the greater world of the D&D game I'll be playing in.
For this playthrough, I'll be making one post per round of play over the course of several days to give me time to sit with the prompts and think of a compelling narrative. Each post will have any neccessary content warnings at the top, followed by the character information, as well as the cards drawn and the prompt generated for that round, and then the actual journal entry itself.
