Day 16: A Letter from the Courts
I have received truly awful news today. A letter arrived at the inn I have been staying at, addressed to me, and born by an agent of the Preservers. It was from the city Magistrate's office informing me that, while I am not officially under arrest for the men I killed when I rescued Rin, I am to appear in the Magistrate's court over the matter in the coming weeks. As such, a seal of bondage was placed on me, preventing me from leaving the city until it can be removed by one of the court officials.
I had initialy intended to resist, but Granny stopped me, and since I don't want harm to come to Rin, I have resigned myself to having my day in court. Unfortunately this means that I will miss the trade ship when it arrives in a mere three days. It didn't seem to bother Granny much that I would be staying a little longer, and seemed more annoyed that I am having to deal with such issues. Rin was pleased that I will be around for a while yet while this settles.
I myself am not happy about these circumstances, in my village these matters would have been settled quickly by fist or blade. Here things take far longer. I have been here over a fortnight. I haven't remained in a single place that long since I started my wandering, and I'm itching to stretch my legs again.
